Medical Camp 2024 by SCMI-SU
Student Christian Movement-Serampore Unit (SCMI-SU) Free Medical Camp:
The Student Christian Movement-Serampore Unit (SCMI-SU), in collaboration with Janata Medical Service (JMS) and Harijan Seva Samity, successfully organized a free medical camp on November 16, 2024 at the Harijan Seva Samity Club. Dr. Bhaskar Chaudhuri, Associate Professor, Department of Bengali, Serampore College, acted as a liaison between the club and the SCMI-SU. The program started with an inaugural speech by Rev. Dr. Subhro Sekhar Sircar, Acting Principal of Serampore College and was followed by a prayer offered by Dr. Bijoy Jacob from JMS, invoking blessings for the success of the event. There were 4 doctors (2 gynecologists and 2 general doctors) and one nurse, 12 student volunteers, and executives from both SCMI-SU and JMS.
A total of 191 patients attended and received free consultations and basic medical assistance. The event highlighted the collaborative spirit of SCMI and its partners in addressing healthcare challenges for the underprivileged. This camp also serves as an encouragement for similar future initiatives. Mr. Giridhar Shaw, Chairman, Serampore Municipality, and Mrs. Chinu Das, Councilor, Ward No. 16 graced the occasion by their presence and appreciated our efforts.

SCMI-SU – Official opening ceremony
On July 12, 2024, the SCMI-SU held it’s official opening ceremony. The selected theme for this year is BREAKING STEREOTYPES FOR UNITY AND EQUITY. Dr. Chenijan Patton addressed the theme and the program was graced by all the BD classes who showcased their innovativeness based on the theme of the event.
